We introduce ourselves

The Schulstrasse community elementary school introduces itself

Our primary school is located in Hardterbroich, a district that is close to the center of Mönchengladbach. The catchment area of our school includes both quiet and urban residential areas. The proximity to the Volksgarten, the wooded area around Rheydt Castle, but also to the city center, offers many recreational opportunities.

Our school building is one of the oldest in Mönchengladbach. In 2009 we celebrated “200 years of school on Schulstrasse” with a reception and a big school party. You can find more information about the history of our school under the heading "History".

Our approximately 300 students are taught in 12 year-specific classes, with the school entry phase forming a unit.

At the moment, 18 teachers, two special education teachers, two teachers for native language classes and a trainee teacher work at our primary school.

The development association of our primary school offers care for our students until 1.30 p.m. or 4.00 p.m. Around 80 students are currently using this offer.

A key objective in our school program is:

We want to be a school for everyone

Therefore, we set the following priorities at our school:

Social and individual learning through cooperative and open forms of teaching (learning at stations, learning counter, workshop work, project work, ...)
Individual learning paths in class through differentiation
Remedial lessons or conveyor belts in smaller groups
Sports remedial classes
Joint learning (GL) of children with and without special support needs
